Introduction

The Online Chinese Christianity Collection is a comprehensive free online collection of Chinese theology and on Christianity in China, including material in Chinese as well in other languages relating to Chinese theology and Christianity. The online collection is a joint initiative from Globethics.net, Geneva, and Kingdom Business College, Beijing, China.

Focus and Scope of OCCC

OCCC offers – already at its launch as of 8 May 2017 - 34,500 full text documents. They are carefully, the majority of them manually, selected in order to guarantee the quality. New documents are constantly added.

1. Journals and Magazines from documentation and research centres, theological seminaries and foundations:

  • Nanjing Theological Review, published by Nanjing Union Theological Seminary (NJUTS) since 1953, the most scholarly theological academic journal published in China, provided by CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), 1994- to date; [ATTENTION!!   • International Journal of Sino-Western Studies, published by Nordic Forum of Sino-Western Studies, Finland, vol.1(2011) - to date;

  • Chinese Theological Review, published by the Foundation of Theological Education in South-East Asia (FTSEA), vol.1(1985) – to date;

  • Duihua-mit China im Dialog, published by China-Infostelle Hamburg (a joint project of Evangelische Mission in Solidarität (EMS), Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung – Brot für die Welt, Evangelisches Missionswerk in Deutschland (EMW), July 2010- to date;

  • China Heute: Informationen über Religion und Christentum im chinesischen Raum which has an English version “Religions and Christianity in Today's China” (fully integrated in the Chinese Christianity collection)

  • Religions & Christianity in Today’s China, both published by China-Zentrum e.V., Sankt Augustin, Germany (an association of Catholic aid organizations, religious orders, and dioceses in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy), vol.1 (2011) to date.

  • Ching Feng  : a journal on Christianity and Chinese religion and culture

2. Documents from Partner Institutions
(most titles need to be uploaded manually, work in progress):

  • Selected (out of print) monographs and journals published by the Institute of Sino-Christian Studies (ISCS), Sha Tin, Hong Kong SAR, ca. 1280 items;

  • Reichelt collection of the Institute of Sino-Christian Studies, Hong Kong, provided by the Hong Kong Baptist University Library, documentation originating from the Norwegian missionary and religious scholar Karl Ludvig Reichelt (1877-1952), founder of Tao Fong Shan, today the Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre, Sha Tin, Hong Kong, including the journal "Ching Feng Quarterly Notes on Christianity and Chinese Religion" (Chinese and English ed. 1958, resp. 1967-1987), today published in English as new series by the Center for Christian Studies, Divinity School, Chung Chi College, Chines University, Hong Kong (ca. 125 items);

  • Yale Divinity Library's Day Missions Collection (Yale University, US), including Annual reports and Periodicals, documenting the missionary activities of mainly North-American Protestant Missions societies in the 19th and early 20th centuries, in East Asia, i.e. China and Hong Kong, totalling 993 items;

3. Books, Journal Articles, Dissertations, Conference Proceedings from Chinese Academic Publishers, subscribed by OCCC from the largest Chinese online provider CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), total in 24,592 items.

4. Open Sources harvested from over 100 OAI Repositories, registered in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan through pre-defined and automated, e.g. bi-weekly updated, very carefully defined search queries in English and Chinese languages related to the areas of interest of the collection, 7785 items.
